A man of Indian origin was the victim of an attempted murder this past weekend in Parc-Extension. The man was attacked and stabbed in his home located at 6966 Champagneur Avenue in the early-morning hours of March 22. At around 7:15 a.m., the man in his 50s called 9-1-1 claiming that he had just been the victim of a stabbing. Many patrol cars quickly arrived at the scene of the crime but the suspect had already fled.

Oddly enough, the suspect made his way to Park Avenue towards the neighbourhood police station 33 (PDQ 33) only to find a locked door, as per the security procedures of the neighbourhood stations. The man, visibly agitated and intoxicated, broke through the windows and entered the station brandishing a knife and threatening the police officers. They try to reason with the individual, but he kept threatening and insulting the police officers. Police had no choice but to open fire on the man, who sustained grave abdomen injuries.

The suspect in his 30s is taken to the hospital but his life is not in danger. Meanwhile, the victim is in stable condition despite his serious injuries.

Although the motive for this attack and the link between the two individual remains unclear, the two men lived in the same apartment building, according to neighbours.

The investigation has been handed over to the Sûreté du Québec according to policy and for a desire for transparency.
