PXN - With 33,000 residents
from all parts of the world packed
into 2.2 square kilometres of
land, Park Extension is full of
interesting stories. Come hear
some of those stories, and learn
a bit about the neighbourhood’s
history at the debut screening of
an amateur film documentary
about Park Ex.
In early 2010, local resident
Joanne Penhale, who also writes
for the Park Extension News,
interviewed more than 30 Park
Exers. The results have been
editted into a one-hour documentary
that will screen this
Sunday, July 4 at 4 p.m. at Ogilvy
Centre, 821 Ogilvy Ave.
For more information, to
obtain a copy of the documentary,
or if you are interested in
sharing your own memories and
perspectives about life in Park
Extension, call 514-373-4858.
The film is screening as part of
the 100th anniversary celebrations
for Park Extension, which
run the whole weekend of July
3 and 4. At 2pm on July 3, an
opening ceremony in Athena
Park will include cake and the
Salvation Army Band. Following
that, until 10 p.m., and from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, a historical
exhibit will be open to
public at 821 Ogilvy Avenue
