A hundred of them came to Ottawa this week from Parc-Extension, Villeray and St-Michel - all three corners of the riding of Papineau. They were all invited by their Member of Parliament, Justin Trudeau, to come and see him in action.
The day included a seat at Question Period in the House of Commons where Mr. Trudeau made a statement warning against sexism in the media.
And after a tour of Parliament, the group was invited to a meet and greet with their MP to discuss important issues including some of the parliamentary work Mr. Trudeau has to do on Bills C-35 and C-49 regarding Immigration Consultants and Refugee Smuggling.
Finally, Mr Trudeau was said to be very proud to be able to have the citizens of Papineau here in Ottawa. “It is very important for me to be able to share this moment with you. It’s peculiar because you elected me to represent you and yet I have to be away from you four to five days a week. Your support and your questions are a good indicator of the work we can accomplish together and I feel encouraged about what needs to be done. This is why I would like to make this visit to Parliament Hill an annual event.” concluded the M.P.
